Millet flour is roasted with ghee for few mins and cooked together with jaggery and water. Replace jaggery with milkmaid or refined sugar according to your preference. Increase the quantity of jaggery as per your need. The whole process takes 15-20 mins to prepare this delicious millet flour halwa.
Ingredients
½ cup Millet Flakes
¾ cup Milk
⅓ cup Sugar
¼ tsp Yellow or Orange food color
¼ tsp Cardamom powder
6 qts Cashews
Ghee – 1 tsp +2 tbsp
Instructions
1.Wash millet flakes in water and soak it in water for 5 minutes.
2.After 5 minutes drain the excess water and crumble the soaked millet flakes with fingers.
3.Heat ghee in a pan fry cashews until golden brown. Keep it aside. Now add soaked millet flakes in it and saute well in medium flame for a minute.
4.When the millet flakes look roasted and when nice aroma is emitted add milk to it and give it a good stir. Allow it to boil well stirring the mixture every now and then.
5.When the mixture looks semi solid add sugar and cardamom powder. Now mix it really well. Keep stirring and when the millet flakes mixture starts to leave the pan and has halwa consistency add ghee and fried cashews to it and mix well.
6.Put off the flame and serve it hot.
